Our Approach
At New Page Counselling we work closely with couples to help them reestablish a stronger sense of connection, hope, and trust. Our therapists are trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, widely considered as the gold standard in couples therapy.
Specializing in
Marriage Counselling
Life comes with many ups and downs and more often than not it is our children, family, and community who receive our needed attention and the marital relationship can become less of a priority. Whether you are currently working through a crisis or looking to rebuild, reconnect, and improve your emotional and physical intimacy, marriage counselling may be the best next step for you.
On average, couples see marked improvement in their communication and conflict management after 5-8 sessions.
Affair Recovery
Recovering from infidelity is possible. Using an emotionally-focused approach, you and your therapist will initially focus on helping deescalate the present conflict cycle so that you can approach one another with more balance, safety, and understanding. The next stage of therapy will focus on helping you to gain a greater understanding of yours and your spouse’s pain and help you to work towards recovering from broken trust, grief, hurt, pain, and towards reconciliation.
Affair work may take some time. On average, couples see helpful improvement in their communication and conflict management after 6-10 sessions.
Premarital Counselling
Premarital counselling is an invaluable opportunity to pause before taking that next big step in your relationship and to evaluate both your strengths and the areas of growth that may need attention. Starting with a research based relationship assessment through Prepare and Enrich, as well as exploring your attachment histories, our work will focus on facilitating discussion around strengths and growth areas.
Premarital counselling is primarily focused on facilitating difficult and important discussions, 4-6 sessions is usually sufficient.
